Sending well-rounded support has never been easier. With Visa and Mastercard gift cards sent directly through Give InKind, loved ones can provide financial relief and peace of mind throughout all of life's challenges.

There are two types of Visa and Mastercard gift cards available: the Virtual Gift Card and the Physical Gift Card. Here we'll break down the delivery options, uses, and restrictions for both types of gift card.

Virtual Gift Card

Virtual gift cards are delivered via email 24 hours after the purchase is complete (this delay is a security measure in-place to protect the supporter's transaction.) There is no delivery fee associated when sending a virtual gift card.

Virtual gift cards are valid for online and telephone purchases within the US only.

They cannot be printed and used in-store.

There is no name or address registered to a virtual gift card.

When using online, cardholders must use the card just like a credit/debit card. They must enter the 16-digit card number, expiration date, and CVV code. The Cardholder can enter their name and any valid US billing address. If the transaction is declined, the site most likely does not accept prepaid cards.

Cards are NOT reloadable.

Tipping Pre-authorization: If using the card for an online order at a restaurant, salon, food delivery service, hotel/cruise booking, an additional 20% of their bill will be added to the charge. The cardholder WILL NOT see this additional 20% on their end. If transaction is successful, the additional charge will return to the card within a few days. If card has insufficient funds to support the additional charge, transaction will be declined.

Virtual gift cards may be exchanged for physical gift cards upon request. A fee will apply.

Virtual gift cards may not be used for the following purchases:

  • Gambling websites

  • Dating websites

  • Money Transfers (Venmo, PayPal, CashApp, etc.)

  • Gift Card purchases

  • International websites

  • Purchases that exceed the balance on the card

  • Bill pays/Subscriptions

Physical Gift Card

Physical gift cards are printed-to-order and shipped via USPS for 2-5 business day delivery, and FedEx for optional 2-3 and 1-2 business day delivery.

Cards can arrive attached to a single instructional sheet of paper, like a regular credit card, or alongside your personal message in the greeting card of your choice.

These options are all available during checkout after you have selected the gift amount you would like to send.

Physical gift cards need to be activated before use. Activate physical gift cards online here or by calling 877-448-4438 and selecting option 1.

Tips to Remember

Generally prohibited usage

  • Purchases outside of the United States

  • Money transfers (Venmo, CashApp, PayPal, etc.)

  • ATM access

  • Purchase of gift cards (Excluding Amazon -online only)

  • Gambling online or in casinos

  • Dating services

  • Adult entertainment

  • Subscriptions/bill pays

  • Online purchases that exceed the available balance on your card

Paying at the pump

Always pay the cashier inside and advise the exact amount you want the card authorized for. If you swipe your card at the pump the merchant will authorize the card for approximately $100 to $200.

Pre-authorization holds on funds generally expire in 4 days and the funds will be again available on your card without further action required.

Restaurants, salons, food delivery services, etc.

The merchant will typically request an authorization for approximately 20% more than the anticipated purchase amount to accommodate a gratuity that may be added to the receipt after the card is swiped. If you request a specific amount to be charged to your card, the additional 20% will still be added.

Example: Your total at a restaurant is $63. Your card will be swiped and an additional 20% charge ($12.60) will be added making your total $75.60.

The transaction will be declined if this amount exceeds the balance on your card.

The transaction will be successful if there are sufficient funds on your card. If a tip is not added to the receipt or paid with another form of payment, the $12.60 will be returned to your card's balance within 5-7 business days.

Pre-authorization holds on funds generally expire in 4 days and the funds will be again available on your card without further action required.

Expiration and replacement

Physical gift cards do expire, and will display the expiration date on the front of the card. Gift cards that are lost, stolen, or expire before all of the funds have been used can almost always be replaced if the Cardholder is able to provide the required information. A fee will apply.
